How Back Pain is Treated with Chiropractic Care
Currently dedicated to improving her education and training, Alicia Barnett is a former chiropractic assistant with certification. Alicia Barnett worked at Myrtle Creek Chiropractic for seven years and was responsible for the front desk and for prepping patients for the doctor.
Chiropractic treatment is known to manipulate the spinal cord and relieve pain from joints, muscles, bones, and connective tissue. Annually, approximately 22 million people visit chiropractors in the US, and 7.7 million of these are seeking relief from back pain.
Before the treatment, the chiropractor will usually take a medical history and execute a physical examination to check if chiropractic care is suitable for the patient. They can also use diagnostic imagery and perform laboratory tests if applicable. After determining the treatment plan for the back pain, the doctor initiates the procedures, which may include one or more manual adjustments to manipulate the joints.
The manual adjustments involve the use of a controlled force that the doctor applies to the joints to relieve the pain, restore the function, and prevent injuries. The chiropractor may also add nutritional counseling to the treatment plan, as well as a rehabilitation exercise.
